New Endings, New Beginnings...

Welcome back fashionistas! I want to thank you for following me throughout 2008 and allowing me to guide you through the ever changing journey to style heaven. Since I missed you during the gift giving season I decided to impart a belated gift of style wisdom. As you celebrate the final strokes of 2008 I want to leave you some ideas for an elegant, classy, savvy and chic look.

I will begin with my favorite favorite favorite (hint to those givers of favorite gifts) color of all time, coral!
The coral cocktail dress will draw attention as it is not a subtle color by any means. It is not necessary to dramatically accessorize with this color, but I'm a fan of over-the-top when donning coral. When you step out in this favorite favorite favorite color of mine, be sure to minimize attention to unflattering bulges and curves. All eyes will be on you!. Wear dramatic heels, voluminous locks, and dangling eye catching earrings. If you choose to go simple, wear an elegant updo and a dramatic clutch to compliment the look. Either way, you can't go wrong! Here are a few examples of how to do coral...

And you will find more options on the sites listed below... Moving on!

Gold, rust, bronze and brown are beautiful looks for this extravagant affair. Dress it up, play it down, you can't go wrong. If you wear a dramatic dress compliment it with a simple upswept do or a dramatic chignon anchored by sequined clips. Dangly earrings will set off a strapless bustline will sparkly studs will compliment a sequined halter.

Purple is certainly still a royal color. Bring out your regal side while remaining true to your style sense. Every fashionista knows that it's possible to do both. Don't overdo it with bulky fabrics that will make you look like Grimace, but wear a simple cut with beaded or sequined detail to add a little flair.

Wine, Cranberry, Apple, these are beautiful colors for bringing in 2009. This look compliments most people, but you must know your limitations. And in the event that you spill a bit of Cabernet Sauvignon, you will have much less trouble hiding it!

The black cocktail dress: You can't go wrong here, unless you wear it with the wrong shoes. Here are some optional shoe styles that may compliment this look. Don't forget to accessorize, as the dress may be too simple alone.

There are are so many color and style options that you shouldn't feel limited. You can keep it simple with black or you can opt for a bold color and simple accessories. Whatever you choose, make sure it compliments you and wows the crowd.

As the new year approaches I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year in advance. Spend this time to reflect on how you progressed in 2008 and what you can do to make 2009 even better. Before you step out into the new year make sure that you look and feel your best! www.savvychicclothing.com will be up and running for 2009. Stop through and find out how we can bring out the best in you. And don't forget, be savvy, be chic!

A Hue for You

Savvy Chic's Savvy Speak readers! Welcome back to my fashionable blog! It's been a while since I sat down and shared my words of fashion wisdom, but in all fairness I've been in a private cave creating that fashion for you.

I've stepped out for some non-cave air and I've decided to reach out to you once more. The topic of interest lately has been the new choice for Fall fashion. I have to first say that I've been a stickler for certain colors for my own personal reasons. Among them are coral, rust, peach, pink, tan, etc. They are friends that I will carry to my grave. However, I have found myself stepping out. An affair of sorts, with some colors I never imagined would grace my body. Or my face for that matter. So here goes:

PEACOCK- A delightfully dramatic, yet not overwhelming shade of bluishy-green that looks great as a baby tee or as an eyeshadow. I'm wearing both as I type this blog. It also works well with our next guest of fashion honor, purple!

PURPLE- Better known for gracing the bodies of both Grimace and Barney, certain shades of purple have become somewhat of a commodity for this fall's fashion. And the truth is, it's quite a beautiful color. Don't believe me? Just ask YSL. And if you're still skeptical, you can try it for yourself at bergdorfgoodman.com.

PEWTER- A version of gray that, until now, has reminded me of nannies, witches, and cinderblocks... Needless to say, pewter has done much in the way of fashion and is a must have for this Fall season.

CRANBERRY- Not just for Thanksgiving dinner anymore. A cranberry peacoat here, a patent leather cranberry pump there, I'm telling you it's delicious.
Although these were just a few of the colors you can expect to see on Fall ready racks everywhere, you can be sure that you no longer have to stick to autumn leaf inspired colors this season. So you see? Fall fashion doesn't have to be mundane and routine. Grab yourself a splash of unexpected color. And never forget that Savvy Chic is an ideal place to find your Fall fashions. Whether it's ready to wear fresh from the runway (runway show coming soon), custom made for your exclusive needs, or on the racks next to the fashion greats, Savvy Chic has what you need!
For looks to grace your face and compliment your attire, check out www.sephora.com, www.maccosmetics.com, www.carolsdaughter.com, and www.trishmcevoy.com who at the moment is currently under construction, but I love it anyway.

What will they think of next?

So Savvy Chic takes pride in the fact that we offer custom design to those who want to stand out from the status quo. So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a boutique that offers.... wait for it.... CUSTOM DESIGN SHOES! And I'm not talking about remixed kicks, no no. I'm talking about pumps, boots, mules, wedges, the works! Swarovski crystals, hand beaded slides, oh I was in heaven. And now I don't feel so alone in the world of custom design. Someone out there is listening. Let us know what you think and look out for the next Savvy Chic fashion show.

Lamenting on Linen

So I was thinking about linen today and wondering why so many people tend to opt for the basic, patternless, neutral toned linen outfits. There have been so many additions to the world of linen. Perhaps it's the fact that I'm in a remote town where fashion is determined by what's on television or perhaps I just haven't been to enough linen parties lately. Whatever the case, Savvy Chic is more than willing to introduce the unfamiliar individual with a new exciting linen piece to add to the wardrobe. Let us upgrade your style!

Passion or Obsession

So I have a problem. I'm addicted to high fashion. I have tried to seek counseling by way of bargain shopping, but each time I end up worse than when I started. I have a passion for high fashion. I dream about it when I'm sleep, I obsess about it when I'm awake. Oh why oh why did I have to try couture and like it? Ladies and gents, you know the feeling you get when you put on a perfectly tailored pair of trousers that embrace your rear with care and finesse? Or the feeling that flows through you when you slip a covered button through a button hole of a silk blazer that contours all the right curves and lines? It's called LOVE! It's potentially addictive. And it's available for you at Savvy Chic Clothing. More stable than lust, but just as passionate. See for yourself what this is all about.

Also, you may find comfort at BCBG.com, Chanel.com, hermes.com, Bergdorfgoodman.com, and Balenciaga.com. Shop therapy for everyone!

The Touch, The Feel!!!

FASHIONISTAS!!! I know you missed me while I was gone, but I'm back with some tips for you. I was out and about touching everything I could get my satin hands on. Fabrics of course! So in my travels I came across a couple of stores worth mentioning. While there are a multitude of wonderful fabric stores I must give my opinion about a couple that I had the privilege of pawing around in . I had a wonderful time in All That Fabrics on 7th Avenue and 39th st. in the Garment District. I also enjoyed The Fabric House at 214 West 39th St. between 6th and 7th avenue. If you love imported fabrics as much as I do you should be on your way to Soho right now to redeem yourself for the all the low brow purchases you've made in the past year. For those who've done imported already this year, go have a treat and let us enjoy our moment.
(borrowed from parisapartment.wordpress.com)

I must say that I experienced the most beautiful imported silk charmeuse, egyptian cotton, satins and wool blends. I also had the priviledge of dancing with a few reams of linen. Anyway, if you're feeling creative you should experience the garment district in SOHO for yourself. It's beautiful. I feel refreshed and I definitely feel a new line coming soon. Look out for the winter collection, date TBA!!! Until then, take care of yourselves and hand wash your couture! With love, from Savvy Chic.
