Style Savvy Super Heroes

Capes. The first thing Ii think of when I hear the word cape is superhero. Superheroes are inherently awesome.  You know what else is awesome? Capes! Well, it turns out that capes are also very stylish and very savvy. And who doesn't want to feel like a superhero from time to time? Seen here is a cape created from a tree skirt, which was inspired by a pop sugar video that went viral. Gratuity. What's the Point?

Give. Give back. Pay it forward. Donate. Volunteer.
Giving looks different ways to different people. The need to give remains the same. I heard a millionaire once say that in order to continue receiving you have to give to others. Gratuity is so important. Not only does it show that you appreciate someone, it also shoes them that there was value in your experience with them. That most certainly will inspire those people to continue to seek the value in themselves, so why not? After all, you would love for others to see the value in you and your brand. Keep giving, keep receiving!

Why Branding?

What's your name? Nice to meet you, I'm Sanaa. That's my name, that's what my father named me. What's in a name? Well, Sanaa is me, but Sana'a is the capital of Yemen. What's in a name? A name is who you are. It's what you are. It's your brand. My brand is Savvy Chic Clothing. Why Savvy Chic (pronounced 'sheek')? Because I'm both Savvy and Chic, and I aim to bring both to lifestyles everywhere. THAT is savvy thinking, which makes me a Savvy Chic (pronounced 'chick').

...See what I did there? 😊

Spring is In the Air!

Greetings readers! I've been away and I truly missed you when I was gone. But here we are. Did you miss me? Great! I have wonderful news. While you were hiding from the late winter weather and covering yourselves in goretex, flannel, and goose feathers, I've been creating all things Spring! Excited? I knew you would be. So I'll begin with my favorite of all. Culottes! I know, so '80s, but trust me they're worth the trip back in time. Jumpers are just as exciting this season so I'll be blogging about those next. And then I'll blog about Spring shoesies. You will be hearing more from me this Spring and I hope you're listening. Ready? Here goes:

CULOTTES: Love them or leave them alone.
Since I was a very young lass I can remember wearing culottes at the first signs of Spring. So comfortable, so cotton. Fast forward to 2009. There are many variations of this style that will accomodate most people's taste. If you do not know how to wear them here are some tips.

You can go simple with a solid color and an accessory to add a touch of flair.

You may also opt to go for length. This will allow you more versatility with your shoe selection.

Up next, the print culottes.

Okay, so at first glance it looks like one of those colorful thingies that you may have worn in elementary school. But with a solid tank, a cute pair of booties and a really hot handbag, this outfit will be a breath of fresh air this Spring.

Savvy Chic Clothing is offering custom culottes beginning on March 15th. Place your orders, Spring is waiting! And as always, please feel free to check us out at www.savvychicclothing.com. New styles coming soon!

New Endings, New Beginnings...

Welcome back fashionistas! I want to thank you for following me throughout 2008 and allowing me to guide you through the ever changing journey to style heaven. Since I missed you during the gift giving season I decided to impart a belated gift of style wisdom. As you celebrate the final strokes of 2008 I want to leave you some ideas for an elegant, classy, savvy and chic look.

I will begin with my favorite favorite favorite (hint to those givers of favorite gifts) color of all time, coral!
The coral cocktail dress will draw attention as it is not a subtle color by any means. It is not necessary to dramatically accessorize with this color, but I'm a fan of over-the-top when donning coral. When you step out in this favorite favorite favorite color of mine, be sure to minimize attention to unflattering bulges and curves. All eyes will be on you!. Wear dramatic heels, voluminous locks, and dangling eye catching earrings. If you choose to go simple, wear an elegant updo and a dramatic clutch to compliment the look. Either way, you can't go wrong! Here are a few examples of how to do coral...

And you will find more options on the sites listed below... Moving on!

Gold, rust, bronze and brown are beautiful looks for this extravagant affair. Dress it up, play it down, you can't go wrong. If you wear a dramatic dress compliment it with a simple upswept do or a dramatic chignon anchored by sequined clips. Dangly earrings will set off a strapless bustline will sparkly studs will compliment a sequined halter.

Purple is certainly still a royal color. Bring out your regal side while remaining true to your style sense. Every fashionista knows that it's possible to do both. Don't overdo it with bulky fabrics that will make you look like Grimace, but wear a simple cut with beaded or sequined detail to add a little flair.

Wine, Cranberry, Apple, these are beautiful colors for bringing in 2009. This look compliments most people, but you must know your limitations. And in the event that you spill a bit of Cabernet Sauvignon, you will have much less trouble hiding it!

The black cocktail dress: You can't go wrong here, unless you wear it with the wrong shoes. Here are some optional shoe styles that may compliment this look. Don't forget to accessorize, as the dress may be too simple alone.

There are are so many color and style options that you shouldn't feel limited. You can keep it simple with black or you can opt for a bold color and simple accessories. Whatever you choose, make sure it compliments you and wows the crowd.

As the new year approaches I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year in advance. Spend this time to reflect on how you progressed in 2008 and what you can do to make 2009 even better. Before you step out into the new year make sure that you look and feel your best! www.savvychicclothing.com will be up and running for 2009. Stop through and find out how we can bring out the best in you. And don't forget, be savvy, be chic!
